Principles
It is our policy that all children should wear clothing that is in keeping with a purposeful learning ethos. We also believe it is important that certain activities are facilitated by specialised and appropriate clothing when attending school, or when participating in a school-organised event outside normal school hours. We provide a complete list of the items needed for children’s school uniform in this policy and on the school website.
Aims
Our policy for children’s school uniform is based on the belief that a school uniform:
● promotes a sense of pride in the school
● engenders a feeling of community and belonging
● is practical and smart
● identifies the children with the school
● makes children feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance
● is regarded as suitable, and good value for money, by most parents
● has been designed with health and safety in mind.
Our school colours are royal blue, yellow and white and the uniform is as follows:
● Royal blue pullover, cardigan or school sweatshirt
● Yellow polo shirt (with school logo optional)
● Knee-length shorts or skirt, trousers or pinafore dress, in grey or black
● Blue or yellow check gingham dress
● Grey, white or black socks
● Black shoes
For PE all children need:
● White t-shirt (with school badge optional)
● Black knee-length PE shorts or black skort
● Plain black jogging bottoms or plain black tracksuit bottoms in winter weather
● A pair of trainers
● All children will wear their PE/Games kit to school on their designated PE/Games day.
● Royal blue sweatshirt or jumper – their school one is adequate in cold weather.
For Forest Schools all children need:
● A pair of old trainers or wellies
● A pair of old trousers/tracksuit bottoms
● An old, long-sleeved top
● An old raincoat (where appropriate and weather dependent)
● Old, warm socks (where appropriate and weather dependent)
Forest School takes place in the afternoon, therefore children will arrive at school in their normal school uniform and get changed at the end of lunch for Forest School. Forest School will take place in all weather conditions (unless deemed dangerous by the Forest School Lead and/or Headteacher) and so dressing appropriately for the weather is key.
Jewellery and Hair
On health and safety grounds we do not allow children to wear jewellery in our school.
Long hair should be tied back at all times.
All clothing and footwear must be clearly labelled with your child’s name.
